MALTA SBD CUP | 2025 EDITION
In honour of the first year of SBD Apparel's retail presence in Malta, the Malta SBD Cup was established to highlight the achievements of Maltese athletes and provide a platform for record-breaking performances. Our prize funds is dedicated to supporting this vision.

PARTICIPATION
OPEN PARTICIPATION
No qualifiers will be held to qualify for the SBD Malta Cup, however, at the time of competing, athletes need to be members of Malta Powerlifting or Weightlifting Association, in addition to the 3 criteria mentioned in the ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY section.
PARTICIPATION FEE FOR ATHLETES AND COACHES/ HANDLERS
A participation fee of €55.00 per athlete is to paid upon registration in the ACCREDITATION Tab. The fee includes
- Participation in the SBD Malta Cup 2025
- Personalised SBD Participation T-shirt
- Accreditation to access the warm-up area, competition platform and spectators’ stands.
- Participation medal, to be presented at the end of the SBD Cup
In order, for Coaches and Handlers to access the warm-up area together with their athletes, a fee of €15.00 is applicable. This includes also access to the spectator’s stand.
In case of minors (aged 18 years or under), a written consent form from their guardian/ parent is required to be uploaded with their accreditation application.
All fees are required when filling the accreditation form.

PAYMENT OF PRIZE MONEY
Within 5 working days from the SBD Malta Cup, the organisers will get in touch with the winners of the prizes, for the payment of the winning sums. All payments will be done via bank transfers. In case of minors, payment will be done to the guardian/ parent.
ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY
Have competed in an IPF or IWF Worlds, or Malta MPA or MWA Nationals
Be in good standing with their National IPF or IWF affiliate
Have no prior anti-doping violations resulting in bans longer than one year
SCORING AND PRIZE ALLOCATION
The overall rankings and winners will be determined by comparing each lifter's total with the national record for their class.
For instance, if Powerlifter A achieves a total of 580kg in the Men’s 66kg class, where the national record total is 555kg, their score will be 104.5%. If Lifter B totals 330kg in the Women’s 76kg class, where the national record total is 300kg, their score will be 110%, placing them ahead of Lifter A.
In Weightlifting, if Lifter A achieves a total of 144kg in the Women’s 45kg class, where the national record total is 134kg, their score will be 107.5%. If Lifter B totals 205kg in the Women’s 64kg class, where the national record total is 201kg, their score will be 101.9%, placing them behind Lifter A.
Scores at the Malta SBD Cup will be compared to the national records of the Malta Powerlifting Association and Malta Weightlifting Association, as of the day before the event.

- 1st Place: €600
- 2nd Place: €500
- 3rd Place: €400
- Maximum prize per individual: €1,000
- National records in squat, bench, deadlift, and total: €100 each
- Men and Women, in both disciplines are classified individually.
